Cylinder, Fuel: Removal: Removal

NOTE:
The CNG system may be under high pressure at all times. Before servicing the CNG system. The fuel line purging procedure must be performed.
- Perform the fuel CNG fuel tube purging. Refer to FUEL TUBE PURGING - CNG .
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable (1).
- Remove the cylinder tank cover support brackets (1).
- Remove the upper (2) and rear (4) cylinder tank covers.NOTE:
Before any cylinder tank procedures are performed. An Inspection of the tanks must be done.
Refer to INSPECTION .
- Remove the quarter turn valve mount screws (3).
- Remove the two inner bolts (1) that secure the quarter turn valve bracket (2) to the cylinder tank valve cage.
- If required, remove the cylinder valve cage (4, 5).
- Disconnect the cylinder tank valve solenoid electrical connector.
- If required, remove the supply line to the front cylinder tank valve (1).
- Remove the cylinder connecting line (7) from the tanks.
- Reinstall the cage onto the cylinder tank.
- Remove the cylinder tank support strap bolts (1).CAUTION:
It is highly recommended when moving or transporting the CNG cylinder tanks that they are covered with a blanket to avoid scratching or damaging the tanks.
- Remove the straps (1) from the cylinder tank support (3).
- With the use of an assistant. Lift the cylinder tanks (1) enough to install (special tool #10380, Sling, CNG, Lifting) (2).
- Using an engine lift or compatible, lift the cylinder tanks enough to allow the tanks to clear the bed.
- Set the cylinder tanks in a well ventilated location.NOTE:
Removal of the cylinder tank valve cages is not recommended unless necessary for replacement.
- If required, remove the cylinder tank cage.
- Remove the cage support base (1).
