Section 1669 (Front Axle - 235 Aa (9 1/4) - 2500 Hd): Installation

CAUTION:
Suspension components with rubber bushings should be tightened with the weight of the vehicle on the suspension. Failure to follow these instructions will result in damage.
- Support the axle on a suitable lifting device.
- Secure axle to lifting device.
- Position the axle under the vehicle.
- Install springs retainer clip and bolts.
- Raise axle and align it with the spring pads.
- Position the left and right control arms in the axle brackets. Install bolts, nuts and align the suspension alignment cams to the reference marks made upon axle removal. Do not tighten at this time.
- Install the lower shock absorber bolts (1) and torque to 136 N.m (100 ft. lbs.).
- Install the track bar. Refer to TRACK BAR, FRONT, INSTALLATION .
- Install drag link to the right steering knuckle. Refer to DRAG LINK, STEERING, LINK AND COIL, INSTALLATION .
- Install the tie rod ends to the steering knuckles. Refer to END, TIE ROD, LINK AND COIL, INSTALLATION .
- Connect the sway bar links. Refer to LINK, STABILIZER BAR, INSTALLATION .
- Install ABS wheel speed sensors.
- Install the brake line bracket and bolt (1) to the coil spring brackets.
- Install the brake line bracket and bolt (1) to the control arm brackets.
- Install rotors and brake calipers.
- Connect the axle vent hose.
- Install front propeller shaft.
- Connect the 4WD actuator (2) electrical connector.
- With vehicle on the ground, tighten control arms bolts (2 and 3) on left and right sides, upper and lower. Refer to FRONT, LINK AND COIL, TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Tighten track bar bolt at the axle bracket. Refer to FRONT, LINK AND COIL, TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Check front wheel alignment.
