Theory Of Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 RAM 2500 HD. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The Camera is activated when the ignition switch is in the RUN position. The Fused Relay Output Circuit supplies power to the camera. The camera sends a video signal (std. NTSC i.e. TV) to the Rear View Mirror Display, using circuits camera signal, signal return and camera shield, which displays on the Rear View Mirror Display screen. The screen toggles functions displaying only one kind of image at a time. And in reverse, the rear camera has priority. The ground circuit is for the system. The LIN-bus circuit going to the Rear View Mirror, tells the mirror to turn on the screen when the gear shifter is in Reverse.
