Lever, Transfer Case: Installation

- If the shifter mechanism does not have a adjustment locating pin installed, align the adjustment channel on the shifter (4) assembly to the locating hole (2) in the lower shift lever and install an appropriately sized pin to retain the position.NOTE:
Ensure that the gasket (1) is properly installed on the shifter before installation.
- Position shift lever in vehicle.
- Install the bolts (2) to hold the shifter mechanism to the floor pan.
- Position the intermediate duct (1) into position.
- Slide the rear duct (3) into position on the intermediate duct (2).
- Place the rear half of the floor console into position.
- Hand start left rear console screw.
- Install right rear floor console screw and tighten both screws securely.
- Install right rear cup holder insert in floor console.
- Position shift lever (4) into position on shifter (2).
- Install shift lever bolt and tighten to proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the shifter boot.
- Screw the shifter knob (1) on hand tight.
- Install the shifter knob jam nut (2) and tighten to proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS

- Install the shifter knob insert (2) using (special tool #C-4755, Trim Stick) or equivalent (3).
- Raise vehicle.
- Verify that the transfer case is still in the 2H position. The 2H detent position on the transfer case shift arm (3) is the second position from full forward.
- Install linkage (4) to shift lever (1).
- Perform shift lever adjustment. Refer to LEVER, TRANSFER CASE, ADJUSTMENTS .
- Lower vehicle.
- Verify transfer case operation.
