Case Assembly, Differential: Disassembly

Remove ring gear. Refer to GEAR, RING AND PINION, REMOVAL .

Mark the pinion shaft (2) to differential case (1) for assembly reference.

NOTE:
Do not attempt to remove the coiled roll pin from the ring gear side.

NOTE:
Do not attempt to shear the pinion shaft by pressing on the end of the shaft.
Using a press (1) and a suitable drift (2) inserted into the service hole of the differential case (3) on the non ring gear side, press out the coiled roll pin.

Slide the pinion shaft (2) out of the differential case (1).

Rotate the pinion gears with thrust washer (2) to the differential windows and remove the gears.

Remove differential side gears (1) and thrust washers (2).
