Case Assembly, Differential, Electric: Removal

- Remove lubricant fill hole plug from the differential housing cover.
- Remove differential housing cover and drain the lubricant from housing.
- Remove axle shafts. Refer to SHAFT, AXLE, REMOVAL .NOTE:
Some axles may only have one tie strap present. However, both need to be installed upon installation.
- Carefully cut the electric locker wire harness lower tie strap (1), and if present, the upper tie strap (2).
- Remove adjuster lock bolts (3) and adjuster locks (2).
- Remove electric locker wire harness connector retainer bolt (1) from differential housing.
- Remove retainer (3) by sliding it up and off of the electric locker wire harness connector (2).
- Mark bearing caps (2) left and right for installation reference.
- Remove bearing cap bolts and remove bearing caps (2).
- Slide electric locker wire harness connector (1) into the differential housing.NOTE:
Support the differential to prevent it from falling out of the housing when loosening the differential bearing adjusters.
- Loosen differential bearing adjusters (3) with (special tool #8883A, Wrench, Differential Adjusting).
- Remove differential case with bearing cups from the housing.
- Tag bearing cups left and right for installation reference.
