Theory Of Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 RAM 2500 HD. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

When powered, the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) sends a test current to the Seatbelt Retractor Pretensioner Sensor to verify the integrity of the sensor and wiring. The presence of this code indicates that any two circuits, from two or more sensors, have become shorted or "coupled" together.
