Booster, Power Brake, Hydro-Boost: Removal

NOTE:

If the booster is being replaced because the power steering fluid is contaminated, flush the power steering system before replacing the booster.

  1. With engine off depress the brake pedal 5 times to discharge the accumulator.

  2. Remove the master cylinder (3). Refer to MASTER CYLINDER, BRAKE, REMOVAL .

  3. Remove the return hose (2) and the two pressure lines (1) from the hydraulic booster.

  4. Position the pressure hoses and bracket (1) aside.

  5. Remove the stop lamp sensor (1) from the pedal assembly. Refer to SENSOR, STOP LAMP, REMOVAL .
  6. Remove the booster push rod clip and the push rod from the brake pedal stud (2).

  7. Remove the nuts from the mounting studs (1) then remove the hydraulic booster.
