Booster, Power Brake, Hydro-Boost: Installation

  1. Install the hydraulic booster and tighten the mounting nuts onto the studs (1) to specifications. Refer to HYDRAULIC/MECHANICAL, SPECIFICATIONS .

  2. Install the booster push rod onto the stud (2) and install the clip.
  3. Reinstall the stop lamp sensor (1) onto the brake pedal assembly. Refer to SENSOR, STOP LAMP, INSTALLATION .

    NOTE:

    Inspect the o-rings on the pressure line fittings to insure they are in good condition before installation. Replace the o-rings if necessary. 

  4. Install the hydraulic booster pressure lines (1) and the bracket to the booster and tighten to specifications. Refer to HYDRAULIC/MECHANICAL, SPECIFICATIONS .
  5. Install the return hose (2) to the booster.

  6. Install the master cylinder (3). Refer to MASTER CYLINDER, BRAKE, INSTALLATION .
  7. Bleed the base brake system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE  .
    CAUTION:

    MOPAR (MS-9602) ATF+4 is to be used in the power steering system. No other power steering or automatic transmission fluid is to be used in the system. Damage may result to the power steering pump and system if any other fluid is used, and do not overfill.

  8. Fill the power steering pump with fluid. Refer to PUMP, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  9. Bleed the hydraulic booster. Refer to BOOSTER, POWER BRAKE, HYDRO-BOOST, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
