Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU): Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery cables from the battery.
  2. Using a brake pedal holder, depress the brake pedal past its first one inch of travel and hold it in this position. This will isolate the master cylinder from the brake hydraulic system and will not allow the brake fluid to drain out of the master cylinder reservoir.

  3. Remove the brake lines (1) from the master cylinder.
  4. Remove the left front wheel house splash shield. Refer to REMOVAL .

  5. Remove the retainers (2) and remove the shield (1).

  6. Disconnect the electrical harness connector (5).
  7. Remove the brake lines from the HCU (1).
  8. Remove HCU/ABM outer mounting bolts (2) from the HCU/ABM.

  9. Remove the inner mounting bolt (2) and remove the HCU/ABM.
