3.7L/4.7L Engine

1 - WATER PUMP
2 - TIMING CHAIN COVER
  1. Clean the gasket mating surfaces.
  2. Using a new gasket, position water pump and install the mounting bolts. Tighten the water pump mounting bolts to 24 N.m (18 ft. lbs.).
  3. Spin the water pump to be sure that the pump impeller does not rub against the timing chain case/cover.
  4. Connect the radiator lower hose to the water pump.
  5. Install accessory drive belt tensioner. Refer to TENSIONER, Belt, Installation .
  6. Install the drive belt. Refer to BELT, Serpentine, Installation .
  7. Install the radiator fan. Refer to FAN, Cooling, Electric, Installation  or FAN, Cooling, Viscous, Installation .
  8. Evacuate air and refill the cooling system. Refer to PUMP, Water, Standard Procedure .
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
  10. Check cooling system for leaks. Refer to Diagnosis and Testing .
