Diagnostic Test
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 RAM 2500 HD. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- With the scan tool, read Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs and record on the repair order.
- Record the Environmental Data.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read BCM DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes

No
- Test complete. The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE RIGHT TURN LAMPS
- With the ignition on, turn the Right Turn Lamps on.
- Compare the speed of the Right Turn Lamp Indicator, on the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC), to the speed of the Front and Rear Right Turn Lamps and Right Exterior Mirror Turn Lamp, if equipped.
Does the IPC Right Turn Signal Indicator and Right Exterior Mirror Turn Lamp, if equipped, flash at the same rate as the Front and Rear Right Turn Lamps?
Yes
