Sensor, Intelligent Battery (IBS): Removal

WARNING:

Do not remove the captive nut, doing so will cause the stud to break.

  1. Disconnect the Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS) wire harness connector (2).
  2. Remove the M8 negative battery cable eyelet nut (1).

  3. Remove the negative battery cable eyelet (1) and secure the negative battery cable away from the IBS negative cable terminal.

  4. Loosen 

    the M6 battery cable clamp with IBS captive nut (1).

    NOTE:

    Do not remove the M6 captive nut, doing so may cause the M6 stud on the battery cable clamp with IBS to break.

  5. Using an appropriate battery terminal puller, remove the battery cable clamp with IBS from the negative battery post.
    NOTE:

    Never pry on the battery cable clamp with IBS to remove it from the battery post. This may damage the IBS.
