Assembly, Diesel Exhaust Fluid Pump: Removal

  1. Disconnect and isolate both of the negative battery cables.
  2. Drain the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) tank. Refer to DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID EMISSIONS, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  3. Remove the bolts (1) and the DEF pump cover (2).

  4. Disconnect DEF supply line (3) from the DEF pump.
    CAUTION:

    DEF is highly corrosive. If the wire harness connector is exposed to DEF fluid during service replace the DEF tank wire harness.

  5. Disconnect the DEF pump wire harness connector (1) and tie the wire harness connector away to prevent exposure to the DEF fluid.

  6. Using the (special tool #9340, SAE Fuel Pump Lock Ring Wrench) (1), remove the lock ring (3) from the DEF tank.
  7. Remove the DEF pump and level sensor (2) from tank.

  8. Remove and discard O-ring seal (1).
