Gearshift Adjustment Procedure

  1. Shift transmission into PARK.
  2. Raise vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. Disengage the cable eyelet from the transmission manual shift lever (3).
  4. Verify transmission shift lever (3) is in PARK detent by moving lever fully rearward. Last rearward detent is PARK position.
  5. Verify positive engagement of transmission park lock by attempting to rotate propeller shaft. Shaft will not rotate when park lock is engaged.

  6. Disengage shift cable adjustment lock clip (1) by pushing up from the back side of the lock clip.
  7. Adjust the spring loaded shifter cable end (2) by pushing in or out to change the length until the shift cable eyelet fits over the manual shift level stud, then push the lock clip (1) down until fully engaged.
  8. Position the shift cable eyelet over the manual shift lever stud until fully engaged.
  9. Lower vehicle.
  10. Check engine starting. Engine should start only in PARK and NEUTRAL.
