Cover(S), Engine Timing: Installation

- Clean timing chain cover and block surface.NOTE:
Always install a new gasket on timing cover.
- Verify that the slide bushings (1) are installed in timing cover.
- Install cover and new gasket. Tighten fasteners to 28 N.m (250 in. lbs.).NOTE:
The large lifting stud is tightened to 55 N.m (40 ft. lbs.).
- Install the oil pan. Refer to PAN, OIL, INSTALLATION
.
- Install the A/C compressor (2). Tighten each of the bolts to 28 N.m (21 ft. lbs.) using the following sequence:
- Upper bolt at front of compressor.
- Lower bolt at front of compressor.
- Bolt at rear of compressor (1).
- Install crankshaft damper. Refer to DAMPER, VIBRATION, INSTALLATION .
- Install accessory drive belt tensioner assembly and both idler pulleys.
- Install radiator lower hose (1).
- Install both heater hoses (2).
- If removed. Install the axle assembly (Refer to INSTALLATION ).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the generator (2). Tighten the bolts (2) to 50 N.m (37 ft. lbs.).
- Install the accessory drive belt.
- Install the upper radiator hose (1).
- Connect the temperature sensor (2).
- Install the A/C line support brace (2).
- Install the fan shroud.
- Install the fan drive assembly.
- Install the engine cover (1). Refer to COVER, ENGINE, INSTALLATION
- Install the air cleaner assembly (2, 4). Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, INSTALLATION .
- Fill cooling system.
- Refill engine oil.
- Connect the battery negative cable.
