Manifold, Intake: Removal
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 RAM 2500 HD. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Disconnect the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor electrical connector (2).
- Remove the breather hose (3).
- Remove the intake air tube (2) from the air cleaner housing and the throttle body.
- Lift up the front of the engine cover (1) and separate the engine cover front grommets (2) from the ball studs on the intake manifold.
- Perform the fuel pressure release procedure. Refer to FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE
.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable (1).NOTE:
Excessive fuel spillage onto the gaskets can cause gaskets to expand and dislodge from the gasket groove.
- Disconnect the fuel supply line quick connect fitting at the fuel rail (1) and plug the fuel supply line with a shipping cap to prevent spillage. Refer to FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE
.NOTE:
The factory fuel injection electrical harness is numerically tagged (INJ 1, INJ 2, etc.) for injector position identification. If the harness was not tagged, note the electrical connector's location during removal.
- Disconnect the MAP sensor electrical connector (1).
- Disconnect the electrical connectors to all fuel injectors (1) and position the fuel injector electrical harness aside.
- Remove the main engine electrical harness groom at the rear of the intake manifold and position harness aside.
- Remove the bolt at the A/C line support bracket.
- If equipped with a secondary generator. Remove the wiring harness from the intake manifold.
- Remove the primary generator (1) and position aside.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors (2) at the throttle body (1) and reposition the harness.
- Remove the purge solenoid (2).
- Remove the short runner valve (SRV) cover (1).
- Disconnect the short runner valve (SRV) electrical connector (3).
- Remove the EGR crossover tube (2).
Using the sequence shown, loosen the intake manifold retaining bolts.
- Remove the intake manifold and throttle body as an assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .
