Manifold, Exhaust: Removal: Left

- Remove the engine cover. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove the left front wheel and tire.
- Remove the left front inner wheel house splash shield. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL .
- Saturate the front exhaust pipe/catalytic converter retaining bolts and nuts with Mopar® Rust Penetrant or equivalent and allow 5 minutes for penetration.
- Remove the left exhaust pipe/catalytic converter assembly to exhaust manifold retaining bolts (1).
- Loosen the left engine mount through bolt (1).
- Loosen the right engine mount through bolt (1).
- Using a suitable jack stand, raise the engine.CAUTION:
Do not damage engine harness while raising the engine.
- Remove the oil level indicator tube fasteners (1), and remove the tube.
- Disconnect the knock sensor wire harness connector.
- Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield retaining nuts (1), and remove the shield.
- Saturate the EGR intake tube nuts (1) with Mopar® Rust Penetrant or equivalent and allow 5 minutes for penetration.
- Remove the EGR intake tube nuts at the left side exhaust manifold.
- Using the sequence shown, remove the exhaust manifold retaining bolts/nuts.NOTE:
The stud-bolts and washers used to secure the exhaust manifold are at locations 6, 9, 8 and 10. NEW studs, nuts, bolts and washers must be installed.
- Remove the exhaust manifold and gasket.
- Inspect the exhaust manifold for any damage. Refer to MANIFOLD, EXHAUST, INSPECTION .
- Clean the mating surfaces.
