Receptacle, Fuel Fill: Description
If the one-way check valve in the filler receptacle is found to be faulty. The filler receptacle must be replaced as an assembly if any repairs are needed.
It is recommended that the O-ring (1) located in the NGV1 should be inspected for wear, damage or even missing at every fill up and replaced at every 16, 000 miles to decrease the chance of natural gas leaking past the fill nozzle.
The CNG filler receptacle (4) is located behind the fuel fill door. The receptacle houses a replaceable 50 micron pre-filter (3) and a one-way check valve (7). Replacing of the filter requires the O-ring (1) and the snap ring (2) to be removed.
When the natural gas enters the system the opposing pressure forces the check valve (7) open. When the flow stops the spring (8) forces the valve back onto a seat (6).
The check valve is held closed by a spring and back pressure created from the natural gas is the system.
