Sensor, Fuel Pressure: Installation
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 RAM 2500 HD. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Inspect fuel pressure sensor sealing surface on fuel rail (1).
- Lubricate sensor threads with clean diesel fuel.CAUTION:
Only use a socket when installing the fuel pressure sensor. Failure to follow these instructions will damage the fuel pressure sensor.
NOTE:Do not use an impact socket, the socket wall is too thick and will not work.
- Using a 27 mm thin walled socket (3), install fuel pressure sensor (2). Tighten sensor to 90 N.m (66 ft. lbs.).
- Connect fuel pressure sensor wire harness connector (2).CAUTION:
Anytime a high-pressure line is removed from the engine, its fuel connector nut (12) at the cylinder head must first be re-torqued.
- Tighten the fuel injector connector retainer nut (13) at the cylinder head to 55 N.m (41 ft. lbs.).
- Install cylinder No. 5 and No. 6 fuel tubes (3 and 6).
- Tighten fuel tube at cylinder head to 40 N.m (30 ft. lbs.).
- Tighten fuel tube nuts at fuel rail to 40 N.m (30 ft. lbs.).
- Install the No. 6 fuel tube shield (5). Tighten bolts (4) to 43 N.m (32 ft. lbs.).
- Install the fuel tube silencer (1).
- Install the CCV oil drains hoses (1) to cylinder head cover.
- Connect both fuel injector harness connectors (1).
- Connect the crankcase pressure sensor 1 wire harness connector (7).
- Connect the crankcase pressure sensor 2 wire harness connector (1).
- Connect the EGR cooler bypass valve wire harness connector (1).
- Connect the exhaust pressure sensor wire harness connector (2).
- Position the bulk head connector (1) and install a new cable tie to secure.
- Connect both negative battery cables.
- Prime the fuel system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Start engine and check for fuel leaks.
- Install the engine cover (3). Tighten bolts (1) to 10 N.m (89 in. lbs.).
- Install the oil dipstick (2).
