Cylinder Head Cover

NOTE:

Gasket must be completely dry and free of oil before installation. Pneumatic tools should NOT be used to remove or install the cover.

  1. Clean all the gasket sealing surfaces. Refer to ENGINE GASKET SURFACE PREPARATION  .
  2. Inspect the cylinder head cover gasket (2) for tears, or splits. Replace if necessary.
  3. If removed, install the cylinder head cover gasket (2) on the rocker box. Tighten the fuel injector wire harness nuts (1) to 1.50 N.m (13 in. lbs.).

  4. If removed, connect both of the fuel injector wire harness connectors (1).

    NOTE:

    Pneumatic tools should NOT be used to remove or install the cover.

  5. Install the cylinder head cover (2). Tighten the bolts (1) from the center out to 24 N.m (18 ft. lbs.).

  6. Install the Closed Crankcase Ventilation (CCV) drain tubes (3) to the cylinder head cover.
  7. Install the crankcase breather and CCV cover. Refer to SYSTEM, CLOSED CRANKCASE VENTILATION (CCV), INSTALLATION .

  8. Connect the crankcase pressure sensor 2 wire harness connector (1).

  9. Connect the crankcase pressure sensor 1 wire harness connector (7).

  10. Install the engine cover (3). Tighten the bolts (1) to 10 N.m (89 in. lbs.).
  11. Install the engine oil dipstick (2).
  12. Connect both of the negative battery cables.
  13. Start the vehicle and check for leaks.
