Diagnostic Test

  1. ACTIVE DTC 
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. With the scan tool, record all Freeze frame data.
    3. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    4. Turn the ignition off for 75 seconds.
    5. Start the engine and let idle for one minute.
    6. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

  2. CHECK THE (N32) INTAKE AIR DIVERTER COMMAND CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE 
    1. Disconnect the PCM C2 harness connector.
    2. Disconnect the IAD Valve harness connector.
    3. Measure the voltage on the (N32) Intake Air Diverter Command circuit at the IAD Valve harness connector.

      Is there voltage present?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (N32) Intake Air Diverter Command circuit for a short to voltage.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go To  3
  3. CHECK THE (Z915) VALVE GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE 
    1. Measure the resistance of the (Z915) Valve Ground circuit between the IAD Valve harness connector and the PCM C2 harness connector.

      Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Go To  4

      No 

      • Repair the (Z915) Valve Ground circuit for an open or high resistance.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
  4. CHECK THE INTAKE AIR DIVERTER VALVE FOR OUT OF CALIBRATION 
    1. Remove the Air Cleaner top and Air Filter.
    2. Reconnect the IAD Valve harness connector.
    3. Reconnect the PCM C2 harness connector.
      NOTE:

      Visually inspect the Air Cleaner Box for debris or any other damage that could inhibit the movement of the Diverter Valve.

    4. Turn the ignition on, engine off.
    5. Using the scan tool, go to Misc. Functions and perform the 'Ram Active Air Box Test'.

      Did the Diverter Valve pass the test?

      Yes 

      • Using the scan tool, perform the 'Ram Active Air Box Calibration' routine.
      • Test complete.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go To  5
  5. INTAKE AIR DIVERTER VALVE 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Replace the Intake Air Diverter Valve in accordance with the Service Information. 
      NOTE:

      The Intake Air Diverter Valve cannot be serviced separately. It is part of the Air Box.

    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    5. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Replace Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the Service Information.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .

      No
