Diagnostic Test

- Active DTC
- Turn The Ignition On.
- With The Scan Tool, Erase DTCS.
- Turn The Ignition Off For 75 Seconds.
- Start The Engine And Let Idle For Up To Five Minutes.
- With The Scan Tool, Read DTCS.
Did The DTC Reset?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform The INTERMITTENT CONDITION Diagnostic Procedure. Refer To INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- Check The (K20) Generator Field Control Circuit For A Short To Voltage
- Check The Generator For A Short To Voltage
- Disconnect The Generator Field Harness Connector.
- Turn The Ignition On.
- Measure The Voltage On The (K20) Generator Field Control Circuit At The Generator Harness Connector.
Is There Any Voltage Present?
Yes
- Repair The (K20) Generator Field Control Circuit For A Short To Voltage.
- Perform The POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer To POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace The Generator In Accordance With The Service Information.
- Perform The POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer To POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- Check The (K20) Generator Field Control Circuit For An Open/High Resistance
- Disconnect The Generator Field Harness Connector.
- Measure The Resistance Of The (K20) Generator Field Control Circuit Between The Generator Harness Connector And The PCM C1 Harness Connector.
Is The Resistance Below 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Replace The Powertrain Control Module In Accordance With The Service Information.
- Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer To POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Repair The (K20) Generator Field Control Circuit For An Open Or High Resistance.
- Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer To POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
