6.7L Diesel

NOTE:

Thermostats for the Cummins diesel, while physically interchangeable, should not be mixed and matched. For model year 2013, the 6.7L diesel engine uses a 190° Fahrenheit thermostat. Confirm the temperature stamp on the thermostat rim prior to removal or installation.

  1. Clean the mating surfaces of the thermostat housing and clean the thermostat seat groove at the top of the thermostat housing.
  2. Using a new O-ring seal (2), install the thermostat (1) into the groove in the top of the cylinder head.

  3. Install the thermostat housing (2). Tighten the bolts (1) to 10 N.m (89 in. lbs.).

  4. Install the heat shield (2). Tighten bolts (1) to 9 N.m (80 in. lbs.).
  5. Install the radiator upper hose and clamp.
  6. Install the EGR cross over tube. Refer to TUBE, EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR), CROSSOVER, INSTALLATION .
  7. Fill the cooling system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  8. Install the engine cover (3). Tighten bolts (1) to 10 N.m (89 in. lbs.).
  9. Install the engine oil dip stick (2).
  10. Connect both negative battery cables.
  11. Start the engine and check for any coolant leaks. Run engine to check for proper thermostat operation.
