Door, Fuel Fill: Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Remove the left rear tire and wheel assembly.
  3. Remove the two fasteners (2) from the wheelhouse shield (1).

  4. Remove the nine fasteners (2) from the wheelhouse shield (1).
  5. Remove the wheelhouse shield (1).

  6. Remove the three fasteners (2) securing the fuel filler housing (1) to the box side panel.
  7. Position the fuel fill housing and fuel tank filler tube toward the rear of the vehicle to gain access to the rear of fuel filler door hinge cover.

    NOTE:

    Do not remove the fuel filler door bolts completely.

  8. Partially remove the two bolts (2) securing the fuel filler door assembly (1) to the box side panel.

    NOTE:

    To prevent damaging the box side panel, do not use metal tools or a prying motion when releasing the fuel door hinge door.

  9. With the use of a plastic putty knife (1) or equivalent, cut the foam adhesive securing the fuel door hinge cover (2) to the box side panel (3).

  10. Remove the two, previously loosened, bolts (2) securing the fuel filler door assembly (1) to the box side panel.

  11. Remove the fuel filler door assembly (1) through the opening in the box side panel (2).
