Sensor, Intelligent Battery (IBS): Removal: Removal

WARNING:

Do not remove the captive nut, doing so will cause the stud to break.

  1. Remove the components to access the battery. Refer to BATTERY, REMOVAL .

  2. Remove the ground terminal M8 hex nut (1).
  3. Position the ground cable eyelets away from the battery terminal.

  4. Disconnect the two-pin (Power & LIN) Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS) electrical connector (2).

  5. Loosen 

    the M6 captive nut (1).

    NOTE:

    Do not remove the M6 captive nut, doing so will cause the M6 stud on IBS pole clamp to break.

  6. Using the appropriate battery terminal puller, remove the battery cable terminal with IBS (2) from the negative battery post.
    NOTE:

    Never pry the IBS to remove it from the pole clamp. This will damage the IBS and will need to be replaced.
