Engine Block: Crankshaft: Removal: Removal

  1. Disconnect and isolate both of the negative battery cables.
  2. Remove the engine from vehicle and mount on a suitable engine stand. Refer to REMOVAL, 6.7L .

  3. Remove the bolts (3) and the oil pan (2).

  4. Remove the bolts (2 and 3) and the oil pickup tube (1).

  5. Remove the bolts (1) and the block stiffener (2).
  6. Remove the front timing case housing. Refer to HOUSING, TIMING CASE, FRONT, REMOVAL, 6.7L .
  7. Remove the crankshaft rear oil seal retainer. Refer to RETAINER, CRANKSHAFT REAR OIL SEAL, REMOVAL, 6.7L .

  8. Remove the bolts (3) and the connecting rod bearing cap for each piston.
  9. Remove the bolts (2) and the crankshaft main bearing caps.

  10. Carefully remove the crankshaft (3) from the engine block (1).
  11. If required, remove the timing gear from the crankshaft.
