Manifold, Exhaust: Installation: Left

- If a NEW exhaust manifold is being installed proceed to step 2. If the old exhaust manifold is being installed go to step 7.
- Prior to installation, make sure all gasket mating surfaces are clean and free of any debris.
- Install the NEW studs, gasket and exhaust manifold.
- Using the sequence shown, install the left side exhaust manifold bolts and tighten to 25 N.m (18 ft. lbs.) allowing the gasket to seat to the exhaust manifold and cylinder head.
- Re-check the torque at 25 N.m (18 ft. lbs.) using the sequence shown.
- Install the heat shield and tighten nuts to 8 N.m (70 in. lbs.).
- Old exhaust manifold starts here.
- Using a NEW gasket, install the exhaust manifold.NOTE: The bolts used to secure the exhaust manifold are stainless steel at locations 5 and 6. All bolts removed must be installed in the same location were they were removed from.
- Using the sequence shown, install the left side exhaust manifold retaining bolts and pre-tighten to 25 N.m (18 ft. lbs.) allowing the gasket to seat to the exhaust manifold and cylinder head.
- Re-check the torque at 25 N.m (18 ft. lbs.) using the sequence shown.
- Install the heat shield and tighten nuts to 10 N.m (89 in. lbs.).
- Install the dip stick tube nut and tighten to 10 N.m (89 in. lbs.).
- Install the oil dipstick tube bolt and tighten to 12 N.m (9 ft. lbs.).
- Install the left catalytic converter-to-exhaust manifold bolts (3) and tighten to 32 N.m (24 ft. lbs.).
- Install the left wheelhouse splash shield. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE
- Install the left tire and wheel. Refer to TIRES & WHEELS (SERVICE INFORMATION) 2500 HD & 3500 HD
- Start the engine and check for leaks.
