4X4-Coil Over

CAUTION:

Do not use any type of pliers on the chrome machined surface of shock/strut rod to assist in the disassembly/assembly of shocks or struts. Use only tools designed to hold the shock/strut rod stationary when servicing shock or strut components.

  1. Remove the shock (1). Refer to SHOCK ABSORBER, SUSPENSION, REMOVAL .

  2. Install the shock assembly (3) in the Branick 7200® spring removal/installation tool or equivalent (1).
  3. Compress the spring (2).

  4. Position Strut Nut Wrench (special tool #9362, Wrench, Strut Nut) (1), on shock shaft retaining nut. Next, insert 8 mm socket though Wrench onto hex located on end of shock shaft. While holding shock shaft from turning, remove nut from shock shaft using Wrench (1).
  5. Remove the upper shock nut.

  6. Remove the shock upper mounting plate.
  7. Remove the dust cover.
  8. Remove and inspect the upper spring isolator (2).
  9. Remove the shock.
