Section 1110 (Engine Cooling System - 1500): Engine: Thermostat: Removal: 3.0L

WARNING:

Do not loosen radiator draincock with system hot and pressurized. Serious burns from coolant can occur.

CAUTION:

The Thermostat and housing is serviced as an assembly. Do not remove the thermostat from the housing, damage to the thermostat may occur.

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable at battery.

  2. Remove the engine cover (1).
  3. Drain cooling system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  4. Remove the bolts (2) and the high pressure pump blocker shield (1) and insulator.

  5. Disconnect the low fuel supply (2) and return lines (1) from the fuel injection pump and position aside for bolt clearance. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  6. Remove upper radiator hose (1) from the thermostat housing and position aside.

  7. Remove the bolts (1) and the thermostat housing assembly (2).
