Right Cylinder Head

  1. Remove the right exhaust manifold. Refer to MANIFOLD, EXHAUST, REMOVAL .
  2. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to MANIFOLD, INTAKE, REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the glow plugs.
  4. Remove the right side intake and exhaust camshaft shafts. Refer to CAMSHAFT, ENGINE, REMOVAL .
  5. Remove the followers and tappets and note their original position.

  6. Remove the bolt (1) securing the turbocharger to the cylinder head.
  7. Remove the bolts (2) securing the coolant tube to the cylinder head.
  8. Remove the water pump housing assembly. Refer to PUMP, WATER, REMOVAL .

    NOTE:

    Do Not  store the cylinder head on the sealing surface.

  9. Remove the bolts (1) and the cylinder head (2) from the engine block (5) and discard head bolts.
  10. Remove and the head gasket (3).
