Diagnostic Test

- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC NOTE:
Diagnose any P0462, P0463, P2066,, P2067, or P2068 DTCs before continuing.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs and record on the repair order.
Is the DTC active or pending?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE SECONDARY FUEL PUMP
- CHECK THE TRANSFER TUBE FOR FUEL LEAKS OR BLOCKAGE
- Turn the ignition off.
- Visually inspect the Transfer Tube between the Secondary (Auxiliary) Fuel Tank and the Primary (Main) Fuel Tank for leaks or blockage.
Were any leaks or blockage found?
Yes
- Repair or replace the Transfer Tube as necessary.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace the Secondary Fuel Pump in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, FUEL PUMP, REMOVAL .
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK FOR VOLTAGE ON THE (N2) SECONDARY FUEL PUMP CONTROL OUTPUT CIRCUIT NOTE:
Verify that Fuse 73 is good, that the Fuel Pump Transfer ON/ OFF Relay and Transfer Relay are operating correctly before continuing with the test.
- CHECK THE (N2) SECONDARY FUEL PUMP CONTROL OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
- Turn the ignition off.
- Measure the resistance of the (N2) Secondary Fuel Pump Control Output circuit between the PDC C6 harness connector and the Secondary Fuel Pump harness connector.
Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 6
No
- Repair the open or excessive resistance in the (N2) Secondary Fuel Pump Control Output circuit.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE (Z914) SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
- Measure the resistance of the (Z914) Secondary Fuel Pump ground circuit between the Secondary Fuel Pump harness connector and ground.
Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Repair the open or excessive resistance in the (Z914) Secondary Fuel Pump ground circuit.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace the Secondary Fuel Pump in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, FUEL PUMP, REMOVAL .
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- Measure the resistance of the (Z914) Secondary Fuel Pump ground circuit between the Secondary Fuel Pump harness connector and ground.
