Sensor, Camshaft Position: Removal: 6.4L

NOTE:

The Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP) is located on right side of engine timing cover.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL, 6.4L .

  3. Clearance is minimal between the timing cover and the release tab (2) on the wire harness connector, using a pick (1) or equivalent will ensure the proper removal of the wire harness connector.

  4. Remove the wire harness connector (1) from the CMP sensor using a pick (2) or equivalent and position aside.

  5. Remove CMP sensor mounting bolt (2).
  6. Pull the CMP sensor (1) straight out of the timing cover, twist slightly if necessary.
  7. Check condition of sensor O-ring seal.
