Radiator, Engine Cooling: Installation: Diesel

  1. If removed, install the fan shroud (2). Tighten bolts (1) to 12 N.m (9 ft. lbs.).

  2. Install the radiator (1) into engine compartment.
  3. Install the right side radiator mounting bolt (2). Tighten bolt (2) to 12 N.m (9 ft. lbs.).

  4. Install the left side radiator mounting bolt (2). Tighten bolt (2) to 12 N.m (9 ft. lbs.).

  5. Install the lower radiator hose (1) onto the radiator.

  6. If equipped, connect the transmission cooler lines (1). Inspect quick connect fittings for debris and install until an audible "click" is heard. Tug on lines to verify connection.

  7. Install the intermediate flexible shroud (1) from both sides of radiator and retainers (2).

  8. Install the upper radiator hose (1) onto the radiator.

  9. Install the coolant bottle hose (1) to radiator (2).

  10. If equipped, install fasteners (2 and 5) securing A/C manifold and line and securely tighten.
  11. If equipped, lubricate new rubber O-ring seals with clean refrigerant oil and install them and new gaskets onto the refrigerant line fittings. Use only the specified O-rings as they are made of a special material for the R-134a system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle. Install A/C condenser refrigerant lines (1 and 3). Tighten nuts (4 and 6) to 23 N.m (17 ft. lbs.).

  12. Connect the fastener (2) securing A/C line (1).
  13. Install the viscous fan and shroud. Refer to FAN, COOLING, ELECTRIC, INSTALLATION FAN, COOLING, VISCOUS, INSTALLATION .
  14. Install the turbocharger inlet tube and the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, INSTALLATION, 6.7L DIESEL .

  15. Install the upper radiator shroud (1) and fasteners (2).
  16. Evacuate and charge the A/C System. Refer to PLUMBING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  17. Install the engine cover (3). Tighten bolts (1) to 10 N.m (89 in. lbs.).
  18. Install the engine oil dip stick (2).
  19. Connect both of the negative battery cable.
  20. Operate the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature. Check the cooling system and automatic transmission (if equipped) for leaks.
