Pump, Water: Removal: 6.4L

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the intake assembly. Refer to MANIFOLD, INTAKE, REMOVAL, 6.4L .

  3. Remove the mechanical cooling fan assembly. Refer to FAN, COOLING, ELECTRIC, REMOVAL  and/or FAN, COOLING, VISCOUS, REMOVAL .
  4. Drain coolant into a clean container. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  5. Remove the upper radiator hose (4) from the thermostat housing (1) and position aside.
  6. If equipped, remove the secondary generator. Refer to GENERATOR, REMOVAL .
  7. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, REMOVAL .

  8. Separate the hose (3) from the lower bypass tube.
  9. Remove lower radiator hose (2) from the water pump and position aside.

  10. Remove the EGR cooler hose (2) at the bypass tube (3).
  11. Remove the bolt (1) for the upper bypass tube from the timing cover.

  12. Remove the supply line (3).
  13. Disconnect the temperature sensor electrical connector (2).
  14. Remove the supply line bracket nut (1).

  15. Remove belt tensioner assembly (1) to gain access to the water pump bolt (14). Refer to TENSIONER, BELT, REMOVAL .
  16. Remove water pump mounting bolts and remove pump from the timing cover.
