Cooler And Lines, Oil: Installation: Installation

  1. Clean block surface, oil cooler (3), and oil cooler housing (2) of debris, dirt and remaining gasket material.
    NOTE:

    Depending on the revision of oil cooler, mounting gaskets will differ. Make sure the gaskets line up with the oil cooler element and housing correctly. Failure to use correct gaskets will result in severe engine damage.

  2. Using new gaskets (4) install the oil cooler (3) and the oil cooler housing (2) to engine block. Tighten the 14 bolts in a crisscross pattern to 24 N.m (18 ft. lbs.).
  3. Install the new oil filter (1). Refer to FILTER, ENGINE OIL, INSTALLATION, 6.7L .

  4. Connect the oil pressure switch wire harness connector (1).

  5. Install the turbocharger oil supply line to the oil cooler housing. Tighten to 24 N.m (18 ft. lbs.).

  6. Lubricate the new O-ring seal (1) with a soap-water solution and install on coolant tube.

  7. Install the lower coolant outlet tube (1). Tighten bolt (2) to 10 N.m (89 in. lbs.).

  8. Lubricate the new O-rings with a soapy water solution and install O-ring (1) on the EGR cooler outlet tube.

  9. Install the upper coolant outlet tube (3). Tighten bolt (4) to 10 N.m (89 in. lbs.).

  10. Install new sealing washers (1) onto banjo bolt.

  11. Install the coolant vent hose (2). Tighten banjo bolt (1) to 11 N.m (8 ft. lbs.).

  12. Install charge inlet tube (3) to the Charge Air Cooler (CAC) (1). Tighten the clamp (2) to 11 N.m (8 ft. lbs.).

  13. Connect the charge air inlet tube (2) to the turbocharger. Tighten the clamp (2) to 11 N.m (8 ft. lbs.).
  14. Install the generator. Refer to GENERATOR, INSTALLATION .

  15. Install the outlet tube (2) to the turbocharger. Tighten the clamp (1) to 11 N.m (8 ft. lbs.).
  16. Connect the breather hose (3).
  17. Install the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, INSTALLATION, 6.7L .
  18. Fill Engine with coolant. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  19. Install the engine cover (3). Tighten bolts (1) to 10 N.m (89 in. lbs.).
  20. Install the oil dipstick (2).
  21. Connect both of the negative battery cables.
  22. Start engine and check for leaks.
