Manifold, Exhaust: Removal: Removal
- Remove the engine cover (1).
- Disconnect the negative battery cable (1).
- Raise and support the vehicle.CAUTION:
When servicing or replacing exhaust system components, disconnect the oxygen sensor connector(s). Allowing the exhaust to hang by the oxygen sensor wires will damage the harness and/or sensor.
- Disconnect the oxygen sensor electrical connectors (1).
- Saturate the front exhaust pipe/catalytic converter retaining bolts and nuts with Mopar® Rust Penetrant or equivalent and allow 5 minutes for penetration.
- Separate the right and left exhaust pipe/catalytic converter assembly.

- Loosen the right and left engine mount through bolts (3).
Partially lower the vehicle.
- Using a suitable jack stand. Raise the engine.CAUTION:
Do not damage engine harness while raising the engine.
- Remove the front wheels.
- Remove the inner wheel splash shields.
- Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield.
- Right Side:
Using the sequence shown in illustration, remove the exhaust manifold retaining bolts.
- Remove the EGR intake tube nuts (2) at the Left side exhaust manifold.
- Left Side:
- Disconnect the knock sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the oil indicator tube.
- Using the sequence shown in illustration, remove the exhaust manifold retaining bolts.
Left side shown in illustration, right similar.
- Remove the exhaust manifold (2) and gasket.
- Inspect the exhaust manifold for any damage. Refer to MANIFOLD, EXHAUST, INSPECTION .
- Clean the mating surfaces.
The stud-bolts used to secure the exhaust manifold are at locations 5, 9, 7 and 8. All bolts removed must be installed in the same location were they were removed from.
The stud-bolts and washers used to secure the exhaust manifold are at locations 6, 9, 8 and 10. All bolts removed must be installed in the same location were they were removed from.
