Theory Of Operation

The controller is programmed with generic software during manufacturing to facilitate testing. The controller must be programed with vehicle-specific calibrations to properly control the transmission. The check for generic software is made when the ignition is turned on. If generic software is detected, the MIL will light immediately and stay on even if the fault is cleared until the proper software is installed.
