Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC 
    NOTE:

    If DTC P025A, P0627, or P1205 are present, repair that DTC before proceeding with this test.

    1. Turn the ignition on, engine not running.
    2. With the scan tool, read DTCs and record on the repair order.

      Is the DTC active or pending?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

  2. CHECK THE (N13) FUEL PUMP PWM CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the FPCM harness connector.
    3. Disconnect the Fuel Pump Assembly harness connector.
    4. Check for continuity between ground and the (N13) Fuel Pump PWM Control circuit at the FPCM harness connector.

      Is there continuity between ground and the (N13) Fuel Pump PWM Control circuit?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (N13) Fuel Pump PWM Control circuit for a short to ground.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go To  3
  3. CHECK FOR THE (N13) FUEL PUMP PWM CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO THE (N14) FUEL PUMP RETURN CIRCUIT 
    1. Check for continuity between the (N13) Fuel Pump PWM Control circuit and the (N14) Fuel Pump Return Circuit at the FPCM harness connector.

      Is there continuity between the (N13) Fuel Pump PWM Control circuit and the (N14) Fuel Pump Return Circuit?

      Yes 

      • Repair the short between the (N13) Fuel Pump PWM Control circuit and the (N14) Fuel Pump Return Circuit.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go To  4
  4. FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the Fuel Pump Assembly in accordance with the Service Information.
    2. Reconnect all harness connectors.
    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Does the DTC still display as active or pending?

      Yes 

      • Replace the Fuel Pump Control Module according to the Service Information.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .

      No
