Diagnostic Test

- DTC IS ACTIVE
- Ignition on, engine not running.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the PCM.
- Cycle the ignition key off and on several times, leaving the ignition on for at least 10 seconds at a time.
- Start the engine and let it run for two minutes.
- With the scan tool, select View DTCs.
Is the status Active for this DTC?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT DTC .
- CHECK THE (K49) CAC OUT TEMPERATURE SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Turn the engine off. Leave the ignition off.
- Disconnect the CAC Out Temperature Sensor harness connector.
- Disconnect the PCM C1 harness connector.
- Measure the resistance between ground and the (K49) CAC Out Temperature Signal circuit at the CAC Out Temperature Sensor harness connector.
Is the resistance above 10k Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Repair the (K49) Charge Air Cooler (CAC) Out Temperature Signal circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE (K49) CAC OUT TEMPERATURE SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO THE (K50) SENSOR RETURN CIRCUIT
- Measure the resistance between the (K49) CAC Out Temperature Signal circuit and the (K50) Sensor Return circuit at the CAC Out Temperature Sensor harness connector.
Is the resistance above 10k Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Repair the short between the (K49) CAC Out Temperature Signal circuit and the (K50) Return circuit.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
- Measure the resistance between the (K49) CAC Out Temperature Signal circuit and the (K50) Sensor Return circuit at the CAC Out Temperature Sensor harness connector.
- CAC OUT TEMPERATURE SENSOR
- Replace the Charge Air Cooler (CAC) Out Temperature Sensor in accordance with the service information.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, erase PCM DTCs.
- Perform several ignition key cycles leaving the ignition on for at least 10 seconds per cycle.
- Start the engine and let it run for two minutes.
- With the scan tool, read PCM DTCs.
Does the scan tool display this DTC?
Yes
- Replace the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the service information.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Test complete.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
