Theory Of Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2015 RAM 1500. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The Ambient Air Temperature Sensor is a two wire sensor that is hard wired to the Body Control Module (BCM). The BCM supplies a 5-Volt sensor signal and sensor ground to the Ambient Air Temperature Sensor. The sensor internal resistance changes in response to changes in ambient temperature. The BCM provides the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with ambient temperature over the CAN Bus network.
