NOX Sensor 1/2

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2015 RAM 1500. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

    NOTE:

    DO NOT  try to disconnect the wire harness connector (7) from the NOx module (6).

  3. Disconnect the NOx sensor wire harness connector (4).
  4. Disconnect the wire harness retainers.
  5. Remove the nuts (5) and NOx sensor module (6).

  6. Using a six sided crow foot, remove the NOx sensor 1/2 (1) with module from the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) catalyst (2).
  7. If the NOx sensor fails to loosen use a torque wrench set to 160 N.m (118 ft. lbs.) and loosen the NOx sensor (1)
    NOTE:

    DO NOT  use a torch as a heat source.

  8. If the NOx sensor is still not loose after applying 160 N.m (118 ft. lbs.) then use a heat gun to heat the NOx sensor boss for 1 minute at 450° C (842° F).
