Assembly, Diesel Exhaust Fluid Pump: Installation: Installation

  1. Install the two DEF pump seals (1).
  2. If necessary, install the three DEF pump damper (2).

  3. If necessary, install the three sleeves (1) into damper (2).
  4. Clean the O-ring sealing surfaces on DEF tank.

  5. Install the DEF pump into tank and tighten screws finger tight.
  6. Using the tightening sequence shown in illustration, tighten the screws to:
    • Tighten screws to 6 N.m (53 in. lbs.).
    • Let bolts set for two minutes.
    • Using the tightening sequence shown in illustration, tighten the screws to 6 N.m (53 in. lbs.).

  7. Connect the DEF pump supply line (5).
  8. Connect the DEF pump wire harness connector (4).

  9. Install the DEF tank shield (1). Tighten the nuts (2) to 17 N.m (13 ft. lbs.).
  10. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
  11. Fill the DEF tank with clean DEF fluid.
  12. Connect the negative battery cable.
  13. Using a scan tool, perform DEF Pump Replacement  function found under MISCELLANEOUS FUNCTIONS.
  14. Using a scan tool, perform DEF Tank Fluid Level Reset  function found under MISCELLANEOUS FUNCTIONS.
