Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC 
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. With the scan tool, read ASCM DTCs and record on the repair order.
    3. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    4. Start the Engine.
    5. With the scan tool, read the DTCs in the ASCM.

      Is the DTC active?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

      • Go To  29
  2. AIR SUSPENSION CONTROL MODULE (ASCM) HARNESS CONNECTOR 
    NOTE:

    Make sure the Air Suspension Solenoid Assembly and the Air Compressor Assembly harness connectors are connected correctly.

    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Inspect the ASCM harness connector for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.
    3. Wiggle test the wiring harness and connectors while monitoring the scan tool data relative to this circuit.

      Were any problems found?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Go To  3
  3. CHECK THE (Y38) COMPRESSOR RELAY FEED CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    1. Disconnect the Power Distribution Center (PDC) Assembly C5 harness connector.
    2. Disconnect the ASCM C2 harness connector.
    3. Check for continuity between ground and the (Y38) Compressor Relay Feed circuit at the ASCM C2 harness connector.

      Is there continuity between ground and the (Y38) Compressor Relay Feed circuit?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (Y38) Compressor Relay Feed circuit for a short ground.
      • Perform the ASCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  4
  4. CHECK THE (Y38) COMPRESSOR RELAY FEED CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE 
    1. Measure the resistance of the (Y38) Compressor Relay Feed circuit between the ASCM C2 harness connector and the PDC Assembly C5 harness connector.

      Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (Y38) Compressor Relay Feed circuit for an open or high resistance.
      • Perform the ASCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  5
  5. CHECK THE (Y39) COMPRESSOR RELAY RETURN CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    1. Check for continuity between ground and the (Y39) Compressor Relay Return circuit at the ASCM C2 harness connector.

      Is there continuity between ground and the(Y39) Compressor Relay Return circuit?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (Y39) Compressor Relay Return circuit for a short ground.
      • Perform the ASCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  6
  6. CHECK THE (Y39) COMPRESSOR RELAY RETURN CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE 
    1. Measure the resistance of the (Y39) Compressor Relay Return circuit between the ASCM C2 harness connector and the PDC Assembly C5 harness connector.

      Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (Y39) Compressor Relay Return circuit for an open or high resistance.
      • Perform the ASCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  7
  7. CHECK THE (Y40) AIR SUSPENSION AIR COMPRESSOR FEED CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    1. Check for continuity between ground and the (Y40) Air Suspension Air Compressor Feed circuit at the ASCM C2 harness connector.

      Is there continuity between ground and the (Y40) Air Suspension Air Compressor Feed circuit?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (Y40) Air Suspension Air Compressor Feed circuit for a short ground.
      • Perform the ASCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  8
  8. CHECK THE (Y40) AIR SUSPENSION AIR COMPRESSOR FEED CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE 
    1. Measure the resistance of the (Y40) Air Suspension Air Compressor Feed circuit between the ASCM C2 harness connector and the PDC Assembly C5 harness connector.

      Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (Y40) Air Suspension Air Compressor Feed circuit for an open or high resistance.
      • Perform the ASCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  9
  9. CHECK THE (Y30) VALVE BODY FEED CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    1. Disconnect the Air Suspension Solenoid Assembly harness connector.
    2. Check for continuity between ground and the (Y30) Valve Body Feed circuit at the ASCM C2 harness connector.

      Is there continuity between ground and the (Y30) Valve Body Feed circuit?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (Y30) Valve Body Feed circuit for a short ground.
      • Perform the ASCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  10
  10. CHECK THE (Y30) VALVE BODY FEED CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE 
    1. Measure the resistance of the (Y30) Valve Body Feed circuit between the ASCM C2 harness connector and the Air Suspension Solenoid Assembly harness connector.

      Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (Y30) Valve Body Feed circuit for an open or high resistance.
      • Perform the ASCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  11
  11. CHECK THE (Y32) AXLE VENT SOLENOID FRONT LEFT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    1. Check for continuity between ground and the (Y32) Axle Vent Solenoid Front Left circuit at the ASCM C2 harness connector.

      Is there continuity between ground and the (Y32) Axle Vent Solenoid Front Left circuit?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (Y32) Axle Vent Solenoid Front Left circuit for a short ground.
      • Perform the ASCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  12
  12. CHECK THE (Y32) AXLE VENT SOLENOID FRONT LEFT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE 
    1. Measure the resistance of the (Y32) Axle Vent Solenoid Front Left circuit between the ASCM C2 harness connector and the Air Suspension Solenoid Assembly harness connector.

      Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (Y32) Axle Vent Solenoid Front Left circuit for an open or high resistance.
      • Perform the ASCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  13
  13. CHECK THE (Y31) AXLE VENT SOLENOID FRONT RIGHT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    1. Check for continuity between ground and the (Y31) Axle Vent Solenoid Front Right circuit at the ASCM C2 harness connector.

      Is there continuity between ground and the (Y31) Axle Vent Solenoid Front Right circuit?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (Y31) Axle Vent Solenoid Front Right circuit for a short ground.
      • Perform the ASCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  14
  14. CHECK THE (Y31) AXLE VENT SOLENOID FRONT RIGHT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE 
    1. Measure the resistance of the (Y31) Axle Vent Solenoid Front Right circuit between the ASCM C2 harness connector and the Air Suspension Solenoid Assembly harness connector.

      Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (Y31) Axle Vent Solenoid Front Right circuit for an open or high resistance.
      • Perform the ASCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  15
  15. CHECK THE (Y33) AXLE VENT SOLENOID REAR LEFT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    1. Check for continuity between ground and the (Y33) Axle Vent Solenoid Rear Left circuit at the ASCM C2 harness connector.

      Is there continuity between ground and the (Y33) Axle Vent Solenoid Rear Left circuit?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (Y33) Axle Vent Solenoid Rear Left circuit for a short ground.
      • Perform the ASCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  16
  16. CHECK THE (Y33) AXLE VENT SOLENOID REAR LEFT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE 
    1. Measure the resistance of the (Y33) Axle Vent Solenoid Rear Left circuit between the ASCM C2 harness connector and the Air Suspension Solenoid Assembly harness connector.

      Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (Y33) Axle Vent Solenoid Rear Left circuit for an open or high resistance.
      • Perform the ASCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  17
  17. CHECK THE (Y34) AXLE VENT SOLENOID REAR RIGHT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    1. Check for continuity between ground and the (Y34) Axle Vent Solenoid Rear Right circuit at the ASCM C2 harness connector.

      Is there continuity between ground and the (Y34) Axle Vent Solenoid Rear Right circuit?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (Y34) Axle Vent Solenoid Rear Right circuit for a short ground.
      • Perform the ASCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  18
  18. CHECK THE (Y34) AXLE VENT SOLENOID REAR RIGHT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE 
    1. Measure the resistance of the (Y34) Axle Vent Solenoid Rear Right circuit between the ASCM C2 harness connector and the Air Suspension Solenoid Assembly harness connector.

      Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (Y34) Axle Vent Solenoid Rear Right circuit for an open or high resistance.
      • Perform the ASCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  19
  19. CHECK THE (Y35) AIR TANK ENABLE SOLENOID CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    1. Check for continuity between ground and the (Y35) Air Tank Enable Solenoid circuit at the ASCM C2 harness connector.

      Is there continuity between ground and the (Y35) Air Tank Enable Solenoid circuit?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (Y35) Air Tank Enable Solenoid circuit for a short ground.
      • Perform the ASCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  20
  20. CHECK THE (Y35) AIR TANK ENABLE SOLENOID CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE 
    1. Measure the resistance of the (Y35) Air Tank Enable Solenoid circuit between the ASCM C2 harness connector and the Air Suspension Solenoid Assembly harness connector.

      Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (Y35) Air Tank Enable Solenoid circuit for an open or high resistance.
      • Perform the ASCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  21
  21. CHECK THE (Y47) REVERSE VALVE CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    1. Disconnect the Air Suspension Compressor Assembly harness connector.
    2. Check for continuity between ground and the (Y47) Reverse Valve Control circuit at the ASCM C2 harness connector.

      Is there continuity between ground and the (Y47) Reverse Valve Control circuit?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (Y47) Reverse Valve Control circuit for a short ground.
      • Perform the ASCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  22
  22. CHECK THE (Y47) REVERSE VALVE CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE 
    1. Measure the resistance of the (Y47) Reverse Valve Control circuit between the ASCM C2 harness connector and the Air Suspension Compressor Assembly harness connector.

      Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (Y47) Reverse Valve Control circuit for an open or high resistance.
      • Perform the ASCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  23
  23. CHECK THE (Y48) REVERSE VALVE UNIT-1 CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    1. Check for continuity between ground and the (Y48) Reverse Valve Unit-1 circuit at the ASCM C2 harness connector.

      Is there continuity between ground and the (Y48) Reverse Valve Unit-1 circuit?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (Y48) Reverse Valve Unit-1 circuit for a short ground.
      • Perform the ASCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  24
  24. CHECK THE (Y48) REVERSE VALVE UNIT-1 CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE 
    1. Measure the resistance of the (Y48) Reverse Valve Unit-1 circuit between the ASCM C2 harness connector and the Air Suspension Compressor Assembly harness connector.

      Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (Y48) Reverse Valve Unit-1 circuit for an open or high resistance.
      • Perform the ASCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  25
  25. CHECK THE (Y49) REVERSE VALVE UNIT-2 CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    1. Check for continuity between ground and the (Y49) Reverse Valve Unit-2 circuit at the ASCM C2 harness connector.

      Is there continuity between ground and the (Y49) Reverse Valve Unit-2 circuit?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (Y49) Reverse Valve Unit-2 circuit for a short ground.
      • Perform the ASCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  26
  26. CHECK THE (Y49) REVERSE VALVE UNIT-2 CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE 
    1. Measure the resistance of the (Y49) Reverse Valve Unit-2 circuit between the ASCM C2 harness connector and the Air Suspension Compressor Assembly harness connector.

      Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (Y49) Reverse Valve Unit-2 circuit for an open or high resistance.
      • Perform the ASCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  27
  27. AIR SUSPENSION SOLENOID ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the Air Suspension Solenoid Assembly in accordance with the Service Information.
    2. Perform the ASCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. With the scan tool, erase the DTCs.
    5. Start the Engine.
    6. With the scan tool, read ASCM DTCs.

      Does the DTC remain active?

      Yes 

      • Go To  28

      No 

      • Test complete.
  28. AIR SUSPENSION CONTROL MODULE (ASCM) 
    1. Replace the Air Suspension Control Module (ASCM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, AIR SUSPENSION CONTROL, REMOVAL .
    2. Perform the ASCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. With the scan tool, erase the DTCs.
    5. Start the Engine.
    6. With the scan tool, read ASCM DTCs.

      Does the DTC remain active?

      Yes 

      • Replace the Air Suspension Compressor Assembly in accordance with the Service Information.
      • Perform the ASCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Test complete.
  29. INTERMITTENT WIRING AND CONNECTORS 
    1. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring harness and connectors.
    2. Wiggle test the wiring harness and connectors while monitoring the scan tool data relative to this circuit.
    3. Look for the data to change or for the DTC to reset during the wiggle test.
    4. While monitoring the scan tool data relative to this circuit, move the selector switch to each position several times.
    5. Look for the data to change other than as expected or for the DTC to reset.

      Were any problems found?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time.
