Theory Of Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2014 RAM 3500 HD and 2014 RAM 2500 HD. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The Short Runner Valve (SRV) is supplied 12 volts by the ASD circuit and is controlled by the PCM using the SRV Control circuit which is driven by a Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) low side driver. The SRV has an internal position sensor that is monitored by the PCM over the SRV Signal circuit. The position feedback is supplied to the PCM as a PWM signal through the signal wire. The SRV is used to operate valves in the intake manifold to optimize airflow under varying operating conditions.
