Diagnostic Test

- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?
Yes
- Go To 2.
No
- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST for 1500, 2500 & 3500, or BODY VERIFICATION TEST for 3500 CAB & CHASSIS, 4500 & 5500.
- SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY (FLOOR SHIFT) / AUTOSTICK® (ERS) SWITCH (COLUMN SHIFT)
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Shift Lever Assembly (Floor Shift) harness connector.
- Disconnect the AutoStick® (ERS) Switch (Column Shift) harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?
Yes
- Go To 3.
No
- Replace the Shift Lever Assembly (Floor Shift) / AutoStick® (ERS) Switch (Column Shift) in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST for 1500, 2500 & 3500, or BODY VERIFICATION TEST for 3500 CAB & CHASSIS, 4500 & 5500.
- CHECK THE (T5) AUTOSTICK® (ERS) SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO THE (L900) HEADLAMP SWITCH MUX RETURN CIRCUIT

- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Cluster C3 harness connector.
- Measure the resistance between the (T5) AutoStick® (ERS) Signal circuit and the (L900) Headlamp Switch Mux Return circuit.
Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Repair the (T5) AutoStick® (ERS) Signal circuit for a short to the (L900) Headlamp Switch Mux Return circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST for 1500, 2500 & 3500, or BODY VERIFICATION TEST for 3500 CAB & CHASSIS, 4500 & 5500.
No
- Go To 4.
- CHECK THE (T5) AUTOSTICK® (ERS) SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure the resistance between ground and the (T5) AutoStick® (ERS) Signal circuit.
Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Repair the (T5) AutoStick® (ERS) Signal circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST for 1500, 2500 & 3500, or BODY VERIFICATION TEST for 3500 CAB & CHASSIS, 4500 & 5500.
No
- Replace the Cluster in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST for 1500, 2500 & 3500, or BODY VERIFICATION TEST for 3500 CAB & CHASSIS, 4500 & 5500.
- Measure the resistance between ground and the (T5) AutoStick® (ERS) Signal circuit.
