WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2014 RAM 1500. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. CHECK IF DTC IS CURRENT
    1. NOTE:

If the Shifter and the Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) is displaying PARK (not flashing), this indicates the TCM is correctly sending a CAN message that the transmission is in the PARK position.

    2. With the scan tool, read TCM DTCs.
    3. Record the Environmental Data and any DTCs.
    4. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    5. Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    6. With the scan tool, read TCM DTCs.

      Did the DTC reset?

      Yes

      • Go to  2.

      No

      • Go to  6.
  2. CHECK THE RF HUB OUTPUT TO THE TCM
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect the TCM harness connector.
    3. Ignition ON, Engine not running.
    4. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the (T824) Park circuit.

Does the 12-volt test light illuminate brightly?

      Yes

      • Using the schematics as a guide, check the TCMA terminals for corrosion, damage or pushed out terminals. Pay particular attention to power and ground circuits. Check Service Information Tune-ups or Service Bulletins for possible causes that may apply. Remove the transmission oil pan and the TCMA. Refer to VALVE BODY, REMOVAL . Inspect and clean the solenoid terminals at the wiring harness lead frame for metallic contamination. Reinstall the TCMA. Refer to VALVE BODY, INSTALLATION . Connect the scan tool and erase the DTCs. Road test the vehicle and check for DTCs. If the DTC returns, replace and program the TCMA in accordance to the Service Information. Refer to VALVE BODY, REMOVAL .
      • Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .

      No

      • Go to  3
  3. CHECK THE (T824) PARK CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
    1. Disconnect the RF Hub C1 harness connector.
    2. Measure the resistance of the (T824) Park circuit between the TCM harness connector and the RF Hub C1 harness connector.

Is the resistance of the (T824) Park circuit below 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes

      No

      • Repair the (T824) Park circuit for an open or high resistance.
      • Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
  4. CHECK THE (T824) PARK CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    1. Measure the resistance between ground and the (T824) Park circuit.

Is there continuity between ground and the (T824) Park circuit?

      Yes

      No

  5. INSPECT CONNECTIONS, REPLACE RF HUB

If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.

    Repair

    • Using the schematics as a guide, check the RF Hub terminals for corrosion, damage or pushed out terminals. Pay particular attention to power and ground circuits. Check Service Information Tune-ups or Service Bulletins for possible causes that may apply. If no problems are found, replace the RF Hub in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, RADIO FREQUENCY (RF HUB), REMOVAL .
    • Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
  6. CHECK WIRING AND CONNECTORS
    1. The conditions necessary to set the DTC are not present at this time.
    2. Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors specific to this circuit.
    3. Wiggle the wires while checking for shorted and open circuits.
    4. Check for any Service Bulletins that may apply.

      Were there any problems found?

      Yes

      No

      • Test complete.
