Diagnostic Test

CHECK FOR RELATED TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE DTCS
1. With the scan tool, read transmission DTCs.
  Are any Transmission Fluid Temperature DTCs present?
  
  Yes
  - Repair the Transmission Fluid Temperature DTC(s) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX - 8HP45 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - 1500 article and perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure. .
  - Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
  No
  - Go to next step.
TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE ASSEMBLY (TCMA)
If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.

Repair
- Using the schematics as a guide, check the TCMA terminals for corrosion, damage or pushed out terminals. Pay particular attention to power and ground circuits. Check Service Information Tune-ups or Service Bulletins for possible causes that may apply. Remove the transmission oil pan and the TCMA. Refer to VALVE BODY, REMOVAL . Inspect and clean the solenoid terminals at the wiring harness lead frame for metallic contamination. Reinstall the TCMA. Refer to VALVE BODY, INSTALLATION . Connect the scan tool and erase the DTCs. Road test the vehicle and check for DTCs. If the DTC returns, replace and program the TCMA in accordance to the Service Information. Refer to VALVE BODY, REMOVAL .
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
