Diagnostic Test

- ACTIVE DTC
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT DTC .
- CHECK THE (F343) ASD RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT VOLTAGE
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the EGR Cooler Bypass Valve Actuator harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Measure the voltage on the (F343) ASD Relay Output circuit at the EGR Cooler Bypass Valve Actuator harness connector.
Is the voltage equal to battery voltage?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Repair the (F343) ASD Relay Output circuit for an open or short to ground.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE (K670) EGR COOLER BYPASS VALVE ACTUATOR CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE

- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the PCM C2 harness connector.
- Measure the resistance of the (K670) EGR Cooler Bypass Valve Actuator Control circuit between the EGR Cooler Bypass Valve Actuator harness connector and the PCM C2 harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Repair the (K670) EGR Cooler Bypass Valve Actuator Control circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
- EGR COOLER BYPASS VALVE ACTUATOR
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the EGR Cooler Bypass Valve Actuator harness connector.
- Connect a jumper between ground and the (K670) EGR Cooler Bypass Valve Actuator Control circuit at the EGR Cooler Bypass Valve Actuator harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, view DTCs.
Did the P245C-EGR COOLER BYPASS CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW DTC set as active or pending with the jumper in place?
Yes
- Replace the EGR Cooler Bypass Valve Actuator.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 5
- POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE
- Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors between the EGR Cooler Bypass Valve Actuator and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
- Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires.
- Look for broken, bent, pushed out or corroded terminals.
- Perform any Technical Service Bulletins that may apply.
Were any problems found?
Yes
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the service information. Refer to MODULE, POWERTRAIN CONTROL, REMOVAL .
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
