Diagnostic Test

- CHECK FOR ACTIVE DTC NOTE:
If there are any DEF Temperature circuit Low or High DTCs present, perform the Diagnostics on those DTCs before continuing with this one.
NOTE:If there are any DEF Tank Heater DTCs present, perform the Diagnostics on those DTCs before continuing with this one.
- Ignition on, engine not running.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
- Start the engine and allow to reach operating temperature.
- Test drive the vehicle during normal operating conditions.
- With the scan tool, read the PCM DTCs.
Did this DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT DTC .
- DEF LEVEL/TEMPERATURE SENSOR ASSEMBLY
- Turn the ignition off.
- Replace the DEF Level/Temperature Sensor Assembly in accordance with the service information.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, erase PCM DTCs.
- Start the engine and allow to reach operating temperature.
- Test drive the vehicle during normal operating conditions.
- With the scan tool, read PCM DTCs.
Does the scan tool display this DTC?
Yes
- Replace the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the service information. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Test complete.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
